چکیده
The prospection of bacteria that are resistant to polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) activated sludge from a Petrochemical Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) allows investigating potential biodegraders PAH. For this purpose, samples were cultured with benzo(a)pyrene and/or naphthalene as carbon sources. recovered isolates characterized by biochemical methods and identified based on the analysis sequence three genes: 16S, recA gyrB. isolated strains shown be capable producing surfactants, which important for compound degradation. ability reduce in vitro was tested gas chromatography. After 20 days experiment, consortium enriched 1 mg/L able 30% when compared control without bacteria. four significantly reduced belong Burkholderia cepacia complex within species B. cenocepacia IIIa, vietnamiensis, cepacia, multivorans. This finding demonstrates biotechnological use wastewater treatment bioremediation. Previous studies hydrocarbon-degrading focused mainly contaminated soil or marine areas. In work, prospected WWTP showed indigenous used both improving systems bioremediation areas petrochemical waste.

The expansion of a microbial bank for the degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is crucial for removal of these persistent pollutants. In this study, five gram-negative, aerobic, non-fermentative bacterial strains (III-R3, IV-P11, IV-P13, IV-R13, and V-P18) were isolated from the activated sludge of a petrochemical wastewater treatment plant using enrichment pro tocol based on...

متن کاملStrains from the Burkholderia cepacia Complex: Relationship to Opportunistic Pathogens.
Burkholderia cepacia-like organisms attract much interest from the agricultural industry as natural promoters of plant growth and biological control agents, and for bioremediation. Some of these organisms, however, cause life-threatening infections, particularly in cystic fibrosis patients for whom this multi-resistant bacterium is a major pathogen. The biodiversity of this group of bacteria is...
متن کاملCalibration of a complex activated sludge model for the full-scale wastewater treatment plant
In this study, the results of the calibration of the complex activated sludge model implemented in BioWin software for the full-scale wastewater treatment plant are presented. Within the calibration of the model, sensitivity analysis of its parameters and the fractions of carbonaceous substrate were performed. In the steady-state and dynamic calibrations, a successful agreement between the meas...
